Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens signed his franchise tag on April 29, and executive vice president Stephen Jones later indicated the team anticipated his attendance at voluntary workouts. However, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Pickens was absent from Monday’s first team practice since he inked the one-year, $27.3 million deal.
There’s no penalty for missing these sessions, as mandatory workouts don’t begin until June 16. The Cowboys have made it clear they won’t pursue a long-term extension with Pickens this offseason, and Jones has repeatedly emphasized the team has “zero interest” in trading him.
Pickens, acquired by Dallas in a trade last year, led the team in 2025 with 137 targets, 93 receptions, 1,429 yards, and eight touchdowns.
