The Champions League handball semi-finals are set, featuring a mouthwatering all-German showdown. Defending champions SC Magdeburg will face Füchse Berlin in the first match of the Final Four in Europe’s premier club competition.
In the other semi-final, Danish side Aalborg HB, featuring German national player Juri Knorr, will take on Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona. The draw was conducted on Tuesday in Vienna.
The Final Four tournament will be held in Cologne on June 13-14. Last year, Magdeburg defeated Berlin 32-26 in the final, but this time the two German giants will meet in the semi-finals—a rematch of last year’s title decider. “Let’s go and win the title again,” said Magdeburg goalkeeper Sergey Hernandez.
Under head coach Bennet Wiegert, Magdeburg won the Champions League in 2023 and 2025, and Wiegert also contributed to the club’s first European title in 2002 as a player. The stage is set for another thrilling chapter in German handball history.
